“Tossing and Turning” ~ Sam Hendrian

Got tired of life and went to bed

So early I woke up three hours in

Tossing and turning as if to prove

My body needs much less sleep than my heart.

Well, I tried to shut off my mind

Then tried to count my blessings

Then tried to manufacture a wet dream

‘Cause sex is a stimulating depressant.

Although when I’m stimulated and depressed simultaneously

I tend to crash and burn

Like when I was ten years old

Eating three scoops of ice cream after a bad day at school.

Suffice it to say I arrived

At a variety of subconscious destinations

Ranging from kinky to cozy to catastrophic

‘Til the dawn put them in perspective.

Tonight might be more of the same

Unless my heart catches up with my body

And endures a few more stretches of cognizant confusion

Before turning off the light.
